Set high on a hillside in Greenville, SC, this new build takes its cues from the setting. From almost every room, the views run all the way to the horizon. Outside, warm brick meets steep gables, dormers and black-framed windows. As a result, the home has a traditional shape with clean, modern edges. Natural boulder retaining walls also anchor the house to the slope. That way, the architecture reads as part of the land instead of something sitting on top of it.

Inside, wide-plank white oak floors run under vaulted ceilings with sculptural beams. Meanwhile, walls of glass pull light and long views into every main room. The great room centers on a black fireplace with built-in shelving on each side. In the kitchen, warm wood cabinetry sits against a deep green island with fluted detailing. Crisp white countertops and a stacked tile backsplash complete the look. Finally, statement chandeliers add some sparkle without taking over the room’s calm, open feel.

The supporting spaces are where the home’s personality comes through. For example, a navy mudroom and laundry sit on black-and-white checkerboard floors. Next to the kitchen, a green scullery with open shelving keeps everyday work close but out of sight. Each bath also has its own identity. The primary bath has a freestanding tub, marble-look surfaces and a walnut double vanity. In contrast, the guest bath features glossy black tile, a dark vanity and brass sconces. The powder bath has a navy floating vanity and a textured mirror. Throughout the home, warm metal finishes repeat so every room feels connected.
